Living in Schöneberg

Schöneberg is one of Berlin's most diverse and welcoming neighborhoods, with a long history as a center of the LGBTQ+ community and a thriving international population. The area around Nollendorfplatz has been a hub for queer culture since the 1920s, and that legacy of openness and tolerance defines the neighborhood's character to this day. International professionals from all backgrounds feel at home here, which is part of what makes Schöneberg such a popular choice for newcomers to Berlin.

The food scene in Schöneberg is exceptional. Akazienstrasse and the streets around Winterfeldtplatz are packed with restaurants, from Italian trattorias to Asian fusion kitchens to classic German Kneipen. The Winterfeldtmarkt on Saturdays is one of the best weekly markets in Berlin, offering fresh produce, flowers, street food, and a genuinely social atmosphere. It is the kind of neighborhood where you quickly develop a regular routine at local shops and cafes.

The residential streets are lined with handsome Altbau buildings, many with ornate facades and large balconies. Schöneberg strikes a balance between the energy of Kreuzberg and the calm of Charlottenburg, making it a versatile choice for professionals who want variety without chaos.

The U1, U2, and U4 all serve the northern part of the neighborhood around Nollendorfplatz, giving you quick access to Mitte, Charlottenburg, and Kreuzberg.

The S-Bahn station at Schöneberg connects you to the Ring S-Bahn, making it easy to reach any part of Berlin without transferring. From Schöneberg, you can reach Potsdamer Platz in about 10 minutes, Alexanderplatz in 20 minutes, and the BER airport in approximately 35 minutes.
